Written for Ebone TIghts: Hosiery for women of colour

Whilst flicking through gossip magazines this week, I was surprised to learn that Songstress Rihanna, has insecurities about her legs. This coming from the 2007 Celebrity legs of a Goddess award winner, lead me to think, as to how other women see their pins. If this beautiful young woman is lacking in confidence about her legs, what is the average woman, who does not have an entourage of stylists, supposed to do?

So ladies, let me ask you this; As the mini-skirt comes back into vogue and takes centre stage, are you ready for your legs to be the new focal point this season?

Your answer should be yes, because although Michelle Obama may have made it fashionable to go without tights, the next big trend for winter should leave us all with a grin on our faces. I am happy to report that tights are back with a vengeance, and as any fashion conscious woman knows, a good pair of tights are a wardrobe must, as they help to keep your pins looking toned, sexy and chic. With sheer tights looking to top the charts, the time has come to revamp your collection and bring the sexy back.

Yet for women of colour, finding the right shade, fit and quality can be a daunting and painful experience. I have lost count of the number of times, both as an adult and a teenager that I have stepped out the house looking like Nora Batty, with hosiery that is either, too light, too dark or just plain wrong.

However there is hope for us yet, and it comes in the shape of Eboné tights. The days of hunting for your perfect match are long gone, Eboné claim to complement the beauty of your natural skintone, and I can safely say that they live up to their promise. Now I have to admit, my past experiences of tight shopping left me somewhat jaded and sceptical about their claim, but with nothing to lose I decided to give them a shot. I was certain that I was setting myself up for disappointment, particularly as I had recently returned from holiday and acquired a deeper darker complexion. But I was proven wrong, they did match perfectly, they were comfortable, durable and they had more than enough elasticity, which meant it didn’t take me 10 minutes of gingerly wriggling them up my legs to get into them.

For me, it was simple, I was sold, and no matter your age, size or complexion, if you are a woman of colour these tights are for you. After all, with this season’s wicked winter trends, where it’s all about sexy pins, who dares to go with less decorated, bare legs if they can don a product that instantly makes them more beautiful, more sexy and more sassy. Not only are they a fashion must, but also they are a perfect and fun way for us women of colour to showcase our confidence, charisma and gorgeous legs effortlessly.
